At present there are four platforms in Gwalior and the frequency of trains is also very high. Jhansi Mandal has been looking for a new platform in Gwalior from a long time but due to lack of space at the station, it is not able to do so. Now this month the goods warehouse will become the fifth and sixth platform and an additional washing pit due to the rear shift. The idea is to start work from next month. Apart from this, a track will also be prepared separately for removal of the goods train. There should be no problem with the operation of passenger trains. The fourth line along with the third line will also be added to the warehouse.
Till august 15th this year, the warehouse (railway malgodam) will get shifted to Rairu. Railways have started its preparations. Railway officials claim that the work of Rairu Malgadam is almost complete. Rairu Malagodam has been prepared at a cost of Rs 55 crores. Traffic jams on Tansen road will get relief from the people, after the change of old warehouse from Gwalior station. It may be known that on September 12 last year, Railway Board’s Chairman Ashwini Lohani supervised the Gwalior station and directed it to shift the malgodam to rairu till March.
Railways has been talking about preparing Birla Nagar station as the second major station in Gwalior city for the past several years, but every time the scheme remains in the files only. But it seems that this time the Jhansi Mandal is making a lot of efforts for this, the senior officials of the Mandal together with Gwalior Nagrangam in the past, said the earliest approach road ready to reach the station.
