Last month reports surfaced that, Madhya Pradesh surrendered about 75 percent of its quota to allot houses citing financial constraints. Around 60 percent of the Centre’s flagship PMYA depends on non-Bharatiya Janata Party ruling states. In the current financial year, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh have allotted the highest quotas of 8.3 lakh houses each out of a fixed quota of around 50 lakh houses, reported Hindustan Times. Meanwhile, the scheme was expanded in February this year, and expanded the target to build 15.5 houses over the next three years.
