Indian Institute of Tourism Travel & Management

The Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM) is a renowned autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism in the Government of India. Established in 1983 in New Delhi, IITTM has become a premier institute offering education, training, research, and consultancy in the sustainable management of tourism, travel, and other related sectors. Recognizing the need for professionals who can provide excellent standards of products and services, stakeholders came together to create IITTM. The institute is dedicated to the pursuit of higher knowledge in tourism and aims to disseminate this knowledge to a diverse audience. Through its pioneering role in the professionalization of tourism education, IITTM has gained a distinguished identity and a prominent position among sectoral B-Schools in the country. The management of the institute is entrusted to a Board of Governors, led by the Union Minister for Tourism. Moreover, the Ministry of Tourism has assigned IITTM the responsibility of conducting regional level guide training programs across the country. Thanks to the efforts of IITTM, the fundamental framework for tourism education and training in India has evolved into what it is today.
